SINGAPORE: SEVENTEEN members DK and VERNON are preparing to temporarily step away from group activities as they begin South Korea’s mandatory military service, PLEDIS Entertainment has announced.
According to the agency, VERNON will begin his military service on August 20, while DK is scheduled to enlist for active duty in the Republic of Korea Army on September 8.
Before their enlistment, both members will continue participating in their official schedules, giving fans a final opportunity to see them before they begin their military service.
While DK and VERNON will be unable to take part in SEVENTEEN’s activities during this period, PLEDIS Entertainment shared that a variety of pre-recorded content has already been prepared, allowing the two members to stay connected with fans throughout their time away.
The agency also asked fans not to visit the enlistment locations. For DK, fans were requested to refrain from attending his Army enlistment ceremony, while supporters were also asked not to visit either VERNON’s enlistment ceremony or the location of his alternative service. The request was made to ensure the safety and privacy of the members, their families and other individuals present.
Instead, fans are encouraged to leave messages of support for DK and VERNON through Weverse as they begin this new chapter.
As another milestone in SEVENTEEN’s journey, the temporary absence of the two members reflects the mandatory commitment shared by many South Korean artists. With advance content already prepared, CARATs can continue looking forward to hearing from DK and VERNON while they complete their military service.
