After more than a decade with JYP Entertainment, TWICE’s Jeongyeon is stepping into a new individual chapter, signing with VARO Entertainment as she looks towards expanding her career into acting.
The move will see her take on acting activities under her real name, YU JEONGYEON, while continuing her journey as a member of TWICE.
VARO Entertainment confirmed the signing on August 10, highlighting Jeongyeon’s versatility and potential, as well as the sincerity she has shown towards acting. The agency plans to support her individual career while ensuring her TWICE activities continue alongside it.
The move also places Jeongyeon under the same agency as her older sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon. VARO Entertainment, which works across artist management as well as film and drama production, is also home to actors including Byeon Woo Seok, Lee You Mi, Lee Chae Min and Jin Goo.
For Jeongyeon, the transition introduces another side of a career largely shaped by music since her TWICE debut in 2015. As YU JEONGYEON, she now has the opportunity to build an identity in acting while carrying forward the global presence she has established over the past decade.
A Letter to ONCE
Jeongyeon also marked the transition personally, sharing a letter with ONCE through Instagram.
She reflected on JYP Entertainment as a “second home” that had been part of her life since her teenage years. While moving away from such a familiar environment brought uncertainty, she shared that support from her fellow TWICE members and ONCE helped give her the confidence to move forward.
She also reassured fans that this new direction does not change her commitment to the group. TWICE remains at the centre of her life, with continuing as a member and standing before ONCE remaining her first priority.
It is a new beginning for YU JEONGYEON, but one that will exist alongside the Jeongyeon audiences have known through TWICE for more than a decade.
