Explore & Dine
After a peaceful stay at Hotel Clad, we continued our journey around Mount Fuji to explore its calm street and quiet flavours. The say began with a clear sky as we made our way through Mt. Fuji Station (Fujisan-eki) in Fujiyoshida city and the street of Fuji where local restaurants and small shops sits against the backdrop of the mountain. Each stop offered something simple yet memorable, from warm Japanese meals to local street food.
Sightseeing Around Mount Fuji

We stopped by the well-known Lawson Mount Fuji photo spot, where the view of the mountain lines perfectly with the convenience store’s blue sign, creating that effortlessly aesthetic backdrop seen in travel photos. It’s just a short walk fromMt. Fuji Station (Fujisan-eki) in Fujiyoshida city, making it an easy first stop before starting our day. From there, we booked the Mount Fuji East Area F-Line one-day pass to explore the city.
Oshino Hakkai, Yamanashi

Located between Lake Kawaguchi and Lak Yamanaka, Oshino Hakkai is a well known village surrounded by nature and clear spring ponds that flow directly fromMount Fuji’s melted snow. The water runs through layers of volcanic rock before surfacing, which gives it an incredibly pure and clear look. Even though it was summer, the water was freezing cold. We dipped our hands in for about thirty seconds, and instantly felt icy and refreshing.
Around the village, there are small food stalls where you can try authentic Japanese street food, like mochi, grilled mochi, and soft serve ice-cream.
Lake Yamanaka Yamanashi

After exploring Oshino Hakkai, we continued to Laka Yamanaka, the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes. The air felt cooler here, even in summer, and the lake shimmered under the afternoon sun. Residents come to cycle around the shore, ride swan boats, or simply sit and take in the mountain’s reflection across the water. Small cafes and shops surround the area, serving coffee, ice cream, and meals with a view. Lake Yamanaka is a place that feels peaceful and close to nature.
Numazu Uogashi Sushi
Located inside Gotemba Premium Outlets, Numazu Uogashi Sushi serves fresh seafood straight from Suruga Bay. We ordered our favourite tuna belly, perfectly soft and rich flavour. The sushi here is fresh, generous, and worth the stop after a day of shopping around Mount Fuji’s scenic hillside
Idaten Bettei

Located near Lake Kawaguchi, Idaten Bettei offers a calm and elegant dining space. This halal restaurant serves beautifully plated Japanese dishes, including tempura, ramen, chicken karaage and more. We tried their tempura course with wasabi and yuzu salt seasoning, light and
crisp with the perfect balance of flavour.
